Hey all,
How is it going?
So,
You all see me posting about journaling most of the time and some of you questioned me about it.
I thought I would write a cool post about it, so you can become familiar with it.
This is a super interesting topic because is funny how unconsciously we girls have used this practice without knowing its benefits and ever thinking that it was a real thing. (boys can do it too)
Remember when we were kids and we had a special Diary? that one with a lock where we used to write everything and hide it so no one could see it?
Right...
but then one day someone grabbed it, read it and spoiled it all, the magic of having our dreams into a special place that only we had the access for.
We have then made a decision: "I won't write anymore..."
We felt that:
- Trust was broken - we could not trust anyone with our secrets, or even that our deepest dreams, feelings, emotions, and experiences were silly, a laugh to someone else and not worthy.
- felt Invaded
- that is not safe to share what we believe in and how we see it.
- and embarrassed.
Here I wrote four examples of emotions that would have led us to stop writing our thoughts, dreams, experiences, and feelings. Think about how that "simple" experience has shaped who we are today.
What is Mindful Journaling?
Journaling is exactly what we used to do as kids, pouring our heart and soul down in a paper; EXPRESSIVE WRITING.
Is where we open a dialogue with ourselves and we "chat" about deep topics, explore emotions and get to know ourselves on a different level.
You become more aware of who you are, what you feel and why, what triggers you emotionally, your negative and vicious cycles, your patterns.
It also helps you in deep thinking, understanding, and learning.
How often should I Journal?
Journaling can start with a few minutes a day and go as deep and as long as you want and need, it differs for everyone.
You can write Slow, quick, sit and think about, reflections, or even write without thinking.
Write without thinking is a technique where you are not in control of what you are writing as it comes from your subconscious. Nothing is wrong or silly, and may not make any sense at first but with time it will.
You gotta be brutally honest, breathe in deeply before you start writing and pour your heart into that paper,
What're the benefits?
- help improve thinking skills
- gives you awareness
- leads you to be calm and patient
- helps connect emotionally with the truth
- broaden your vocabulary
- learn how to express emotional language
- a way to organize your thoughts
- helps with anxiety
- you learn meditative skills
- helps with depression symptoms
How can it benefit others around me?
As you become more aware of who you are and your environment, you become closer to your truth and calmer, more patient, therefore more approachable, as we are a reflection of others and our environment a reflection of who we are we must then intentionally give what we want back.
I,e: If we look at a situation with patient, love, and understanding we are receiving the same from the universe.
What do I need to start?
A Notebook, a pen and you... that is all you need.
I usually, sit at breakfast and set up my space, or at any other time, I intentionally prepare my environment so I can freely write and connect with the source.
I will later write a post about my journaling routine and that can really help you guys starting this great habit.
If I want to know more?
Let me know what areas you would like me to cover and I will write more about it for sure.

Wishing you a great weekend.
